Our survival raft finally came at 10PM on Friday and we secured it to the boat and left at midnight. We are 64 hours out and our location is 11deg 33 min N and 74deg 35 min W. We plan to arrive at Cartagena, Columbia tomorrow around noon.
March 14, 2003
We are still waiting for our 6 man survival raft which "was at the airport" for the past week but
not delivered to us. It turns out that the airport is in St. Martin not here and there is only 1
plane a day coming from that island and they are all full and can't bring raft.
We have been promised to have it delivered tonight after 10 pm and the guys plan to mount
it and then we will leave. That will put us leaving around midnight. We will get a pilot to lead
us out of the channel into the ocean because it is a difficult task in the dark.
March 7, 2003
JAN and Lee are in the Caribbean provisioning for their voyage to Tahiti. Weather permitting,
they will leave on March, 13, 2003.
Jan says "I have been so busy working to get the boat ready to go that I haven't had time to write about
LaBoheme for my web page. I may get to it this week."
"It is very scary for me to be responsible for feeding the crew for approx. 2 months. It is
going to be hard to store that much food and it is hard to know how much food to buy. I could
do a whole story about how boaters doctor Chunky Beef Soup. If you have any good ideas
for provisioning, I'd love to hear them."
