FEBRUARY 2004 TRIP TO LAS VEGAS

Hi Joyce & Dick - Miss all the ones that left already. Your name tags were terrific! I had people ask me if we were a school class as they saw lots with the name tags. We all had name tags on at Dinner Show last night and took a group pic. so will get the pics out to Terry to put on web page plus a lot more. I might even send the pics from here. They announced at show that 40 were here from John Burroughs Hi in Burbank.

It is almost 5:30 and about 10 or 11 are going on Barbary Shuttle Bus to strip and then to Hole in Wall for dinner tonight. Fred, Deanna, John, Romilda, Cal, Barbara, Ronetta, Linda, Warren, Hazel, and probably Carol M. Scott was sick all night and today - maybe something he ate. Rowleen playing slots as usual and I am here on puter.

Some hi lites - all had a good time - Doug & Ann Morris from Prescott Valley came and we really enjoyed them as well as Dan & Sandra Bell. - Carol had recently found these classmates. At show one pretty show girl sat on Brian Blalock Harringtons lap and tried like heck to get him to go on stage. Then she sat on Doug Morris lap and her really enjoyed it but wouldn't go on stage either. I have good pics of both.

Had a little birthday party for Joyce Lyle and Don Boggs. Doreen Lloyd hit a $1000 jackpot the first day. Dick MacDonald won about $200 the first day. We added about $400 to our class treasury today as Fred, Carol and myself went to bank and had the three of us put on account and Fred to get statements and write all the cks. Now we have about $600 in account with over $200 from Carols puter xtra and the rest from selling Akelas, Terrys CD, Jackets, etc.

Hospitality room was crowded most of time so we spilled over into Ronetta's room across the hall. Plenty of goodies and lots of booze, wine etc. left. Had a great bus trip to strip and then to Imperial Palace to visit the Auto Museum. It was a grand time - 20 of us on bus singing Burroughs yells and then a very large car show. Several hundred cars priced up to $400,000 each. Many juke boxes etc. so Fred was in heaven. Elevator would hold about 10 and I was on Fred's elevator. Supposed to go to 5th. floor. It went to 13th. floor and stalled. Then it dropped real fast to 8th. floor and made a big jerk and noise. Fred wasn't happy. He said Oh shit! I have this all on video for proof.

Thousands of pics taken by most classmates. Roy and Alice Moss hit all the events and were a lot of fun. Rose and Garnet Knaur were a lot of fun as were everyone of the 50 or so plus about 10 visitors from Vegas area. Thank you Duke for picking up Doreen at airport. Fun with Barry, Irene, Dick, Wanora, Dave, Sara, Don, Norma, Linda Schofield, Donna & Ray Nisbet Hammond, Dale Judson, Ken & Darlene Enochs Mc Eldery and the rest that were here last yr. with us. Good meeting on Sun. nite led by Carol. Plenty of food - all need to go on diet.

A Short Report About The Renegades

Most JBHS class of 1955 arrived Sunday, Feb. 8, and most attended the buffet, and attended the organization meeting.

Monday there was a group of 20 who went to the car museum at the Imperial Palace Casino. The Imperial Palace is being renovated, and this resulted in a convoluted trek to find the museum an adventure in itself. We thought it was a law suit waiting to happen. We spent about 2 hours admiring some old cars and music boxes. Fred Roth was strutting his stuff.

Then we walked to the Bellagio Casino where they had a display of Monet paintings. They had 20 paintings from the Boston Museum with hand held speakers explaining what we were seeing. This was worth the $12 fee. Monet was a unique artist, as his work is a colorful blur up close, but a fine picture from 10 feet of 19th century France.

Time for a quick nap, and the 'renegades' ( as Denny named us) consisting of Fred & Darlene Roth, John & Romelda Loverenski, Cal & Barb Roe, Warren and Hazel Ryan, and Dick and Joyce (Lisle) Hasket went to the Steak House restaurant in Circus Circus for a classy dinner. Then we headed to New York New York for the Rita Rudner show. But, Fred had to take us through a tour of the Circus Circus RV parking lot because he missed a critical turn as we were leaving the parking garage. This put us a bit late for the show, but we all made it. This was a great comedy show, just a funny twist on life.

Tuesday most of the 'renegades' went to the outlet mall, but John and I went to Fry's Electronic store. The memory in my new digital camera was getting full, so I bought a 158mb memory card to supplement the as-furnished 16mb. Meanwhile, Fred bought a small jar of tooth picks at Black & Decker, and the ladies had their shopping bags. The plan was to go to the Ethyl M chocolate factory after the mall. But, John & I had some time and had pre-scouted the location of Ethyl M. So, we let the ladies tell us were to turn, except the last. This turn was pre-planned to look like a U-turn, but was actually a turn into the factory lot. A great laugh was had by all, as the ladies thought they had got us there by accident, when we knew where we were going all along. They make some excellent candy, and the cactus farm and water recovery process were quite interesting.
