SHARON STEVENS COX BUBBLES
August 7, 2003
According to Carol M,
Sharon is getting better everyday. She can get on the computer for a short
time now. You might want to send her a cheery note. Hips take a long time to heal.

Denny talked to Dick and Sharon last night on phone. Sharon had gotten up July 4th. morning and didn't
want to wake up too much and fell trying to get a hold of her walker. She fell on her good leg and tore a
legament. Now she has a brace on the one leg and is still unable to put weight on the other leg with her
repaired hip.
This will set back her recovery date but she is in good spirits and being not able to get on computer a
phone call or card would be great.

WE HEAR SHE IS HOME NOW.

Alive and well and poppin' wheelies in my new set of wheels! Cordova
Tennessee's new senior poster lady! Therapy is rigorous but I am hanging in
there to assure a quick and long lasting recovery. Thanks to all my classmates
who have sent letters, prayers, and cards of support. It was great medicine!
Hugs to ya'll!

I just called Sharon a little while ago and she will be going home Tues. They want her to get a little
stronger before going home. She can't put any weight on the repaired hip for over two more months so
she hops around on one leg and a walker and it isn/t easy as we can understand. At home Dick and a
neighbor built a ramp so she can go up the ramp easy into the house in a wheel chair to save her
strength. They have sleeping quarters, puter, kitchen all downstairs so she will be set. She will be
home for their 48th. Anniversary on Wed. which is great. We might be able to get her away from
Anniversary celebration long enough for a little chat. on Wed. nite.
Sharon is in good spirits and an inspiration to all of us - still telling jokes and telling us all thanks for
cards and cheer we have sent.

According to Dick on the Chat last night Sharon is still hurting but will be home on Saturday.

Dick told me tonite that Sharon was in pain today so X Rays tomorrow. A broken hip takes 12 weeks
before you can put weight on it. She is still hoping to go home Sat. and has plans for Dick on Fathers
Day. Dick had 2 hips replaced and no problems. Broken hips are a lot tougher. Denny

Hi Classmates, Thank ya;ll for your thoughts and prayers. A special
thanks to my "agents"Grossmand , {editor in chief} Cox, { head rooster}
and Don Boggs, {watch wolf}. Their health bulletin updates are
special! Cox's Coop will never be the same. The head rooster has
challenged the internet and connected with J.B.H.S. alumni. He is having
so much fun. Let me take a moment and introduce you to my rehab
roomate. Her name is Anna Suzanna. She was borne in Tenneesse, and is 95
years old. The other day when she checked in to re-hab the head nurse
was asking her questions reguard to personal health, "what drugs are you
taking?" any open sores. rashes, or allergrys that need attention?
Suzanna replied, "Why I have a crack that runs all the way down my ass,
it has been that way all my life , and it has followed me everywhere I
go". I am doing fine in re-hab Oh of course it hurts! I relize my
efforts are what will help me mend . Thank you for your prayers . Your
support has helped me to get better. I know when you finish reading
this message you will all run to a low hanging mirror to see if you
have Anna Suzanna's crack. No need to share your findings with anyone.
LOVE YOU and thank you with all my heart. "Keep your sunny side up"! And
Huggs. Sharon
Doctors screwed a plate to Sharons Femur Hip Bone she fractured at their home in TN. Dick has a bed in Sharon's room so he is waiting for her to be returned after surgery. They plan on getting her standing up and a little walking in the morning. She should be home in a few days.
UPDATE 5/28 6:30 pm
Sharon went through surgery with flying colors. She has been given moraphine but is doing quite well considering the type of break. Richard (Dick) indicated she will be up tomorrow for a short time. Boy, they really get you up soon now!
Sharon is in room 4120 Baptist East Hospital...Memphis, TN.
Dick is going to call me with the phone number in a couple of hours. He was heading home from the hospital to check mail, etc, when I called his cell number.
Will update you as conditions change.
Regards...Don Boggs
We'll keep you posted.
May 30,2003
Sharon (and Dick) had a very rough night last night. Personnel kept coming into her room placing pillows under her, etc and this kept Dick awake also.
Latest indications are that she MAY get to go home Saturday but that is dependent on several things, pain, mobility, etc. But if not, she will likely go home Monday.
Will update as I receive new news.
Warm Regards...Don Boggs

I talked with Sharon and Dick this am and Sharon feels better. She, and Dick, had a better night. Sharon will be up today and placing some weight on her hips. She will likely go home Monday. She is a bit concerned on how she is going to get up into their Lincoln Navigator since it is rather high. She and dick will work that out when the time arrives.

I just talked with Richard (Dick) Cox and Sharon was sleeping after given medication.
Dick indicated that since Sharon was not responding to therapy as the doctor would like, they were placing her into a therapy rehab center next week. Her ability to go home will be dependent on the outcome of next weeks therapy.
