J.C. SCOTT HEIBERG
My Biography

I moved back to Wis. shortly after graduation. I returned for a semester at a LA college in 1956 and then returned back to Wis.

Never got back much to my regret!

I got married in 1961 and 11 months later I had my daughter Kim. Then 11 months later I had my son Gary,Jr. but we always called him Tyke. During this time, I also worked for the City of Kenosha in different departments and ended up as head of salaried payroll.

After having 2 kids in 11 months and starting a camping business with my husband, I decided to leave the City job. I mainly ran the office for the business until my 3rd child, Scott came along in l968. We did very well in the business but it and other things took its toll on the marriage. We separated in 1971 and divorced in 1974. In 1972 I was hired by American Motors Corp. which is now Daimler Chrysler. I had a job there until 1991 and was one of the last employees to leave the plant. Chrysler bought AMC out and 6 months later started shutting down the factories. Their ultimate goal was the Jeep. Anyway I went into dog grooming and had a business for 9 years. The girls I had working for me were getting ready to move or retire in the near future so I decided to move on and now just do private grooming.

I am heavily involved in the animal industry. I raise and show Registered Quarter Horses Class A. and have judged shows from Wisconsin to Texas. I, also, raise West Highland Terriers and Shih Tzus. Since l982 I have either been secretary or in more recent years I have managed the Wisconsin State Quarter Horse and State Fairs Show and the Wisconsin Youth Quarter Horse Shows.

My daughter,Kim, has 4 lovely daughters and my son,Scott, gave us a super grandson who could be his clone! But, as they say, into each life some rain must fall. My oldest son,Tyke, was diagnosed with A-Plastic Anemia, a form of Leukemia, in Jan. of '96.

It was quite a blow as we were all worried as my Dad was suffering from lung cancer - which he passed away from in May of '96. In June of '96, my youngest son,Scott, gave Tyke his much needed bone marrow transplant, just a week after Scott's son was born. Tyke endured and what with all the treatment went into remission. It was Dec. of '96 that my son Scott went up north and was badly hurt in an accident. They flight for lifed him to a major hospital where he did fine for a week and everything seemed to be alright until that early morning phone call on Dec. 21,'96 when they told me he did not make it. When Scott went home after giving his brother the bone marrow transplant, he and his wife were resting. He told her that if anything ever happened to him to make sure his organs were donated. And 6 months later to the day that is just what he did. To say I'm an advocate of the organ donation program is an understatement. Today there are 6 people living healthy lives and 2 have sight.

Tyke, my oldest son, then got well enough to go back to work. He was an over the road driver. On Nov.11,'99, he was loaded with 20 ton of gravel and on his way home. Another semi swerved to miss a cat and hit him head on. The Sheriffs dept. pronounced him dead just as the flight for life landed and they brought him back. After 13 hrs. of surgery he lived but his body was never the same. But the worst part of it was the shock from the accident brought the cancer back and with a vengence. He lived until Nov. 18, 2002. I guess to say the last 6 yrs. have been stormy - well if nothing else its made me a lot stronger.

I truly thank God that he let me have the boys as long as he did. They were both their own person and gave me years of happiness.

As for now, I'm trying to sell the farmette that I have and move on. I'll always have some animals but who knows where!

Having the chance to reaquaint myself with some of the classmates has really brought some happiness back. As Martha would say "This is a good thing!".
