ROBERT SAYLOR and MARILYN

My Biography

After graduating from Burroughs I went to work for Pacific Telephone, working in the mailroom. One year later I transferred to station installation. I spent about one year installing phones and went on to repair where I was for 3 years. Its now 1960 and being in the California Air National Guard I was activated into the United States Air Force. I was on active duty for almost a year. Upon returning to the Phone Company I was assigned to work inside in the central office in various jobs. In 1967 I was promoted to management where I spent the next 27 years until my retirement in 1994. I had many different positions in those years and retired as a Technical Manager of a computer center.

I met my wife Marilynn in Bob's drive-in. It seems as though her car had a dead battery, her and a friend needed to get the car out of the drive-in and get it started. Being the gentlemen, my friend (Wes Dana, class of 56) and I were we managed to get them out of Bob's and get the car started. It's all history from there.

Marilynn and I were married in Burbank in 1960. We moved into an apartment on Hollywood Way where we lived for about 1 year. In 1961 we moved to the house on Avon Street that I had lived in since 1943. We continued to live there until 1996 when we moved to Canyon Country, Ca. to be with our children who all live here.

We have 3 children, 2 sons and 1 daughter. All three went to Bret Harte, Luther Burbank, and Burroughs. We have 7 grandchildren, age 15 - 3.

Living as close to our children as we do we spend a good deal of our time with our grandchildren. We enjoy camping and fishing, so we try to get away in our motorhome as much as possible.
