Robert J. Berton passed away on September 09, 2003.

For those who do not know me, I am one of Carollyn's brothers living in Dallas.

I had the pleasure of spending some time with Bob the last part of July. What I saw was a incredible man fighting a courageous battle. We had a chance to talk a few times while I was there about his life, his love for Carollyn and his determination to beat the odds. Bob was committed to his family and his friends but as his friends and family we knew that already about Bob because each of us had been the recipient of his understanding, caring and love throughout the years.

I could sit here and tell you countless stories of Bob's friendship and love, but won't because those who knew him as we did knew the real Bob. He was the warmest and kindest man I have ever known even though he chose to hide it in that rough and tough facade. But the funny thing is he was always willing to shed it for me when I needed to talk and I will always remember that about him. I will miss our talks, our laughter and most of all his friendship.

God Bless you Bob. God bless Carollyn, Todd, Shannie and the rest of the Berton/MacmIllan extended family.

"C" the family is and always will be here for you and the kiddos. We are just a quick phone call or plane trip away.

Love to all, Gerald Smith

Most of you don't know me, but I am, and always will be, Bobby's brother-in-law. This morning I sent Bobby an email of thanks and rememberance that made me feel better. Stupid I know, but it made me feel better. Anyway, Carollyn and Todd wound up reading it and liked the idea of getting memories from all of the people close to Bobby of their feelings, thoughts, stories and the like. Once she told this to me, I decided to email those of you on Bobby's humor list to request your assistance in sending one last email to one of the nicest men put on this earth.

On behalf of the entire Berton/MacMillan family, I thank you for your help.

Sam Luxenberg

I'm so sorry to hear the news about Bob. I had a huge crush on him in high school and hoped to reconnect at the reunion just to see and talk to him.

Barbara Faye Coon Marhant passed away October 31, 2004 in Portland, OR. She was 67 years old. Barbara was born to Garrett and Helen Coon in Glendale, CA. on April 27, 1937. While her father served in the Navy, her family relocated to several homes across the country. In the late 40's they settled in Burbank, CA where Barbara attended Jordan Jr. High and graduated from John Burroughs High in 1955. During this time, Barbara fondly became referred to as "Bunny" Many of her closest family and friends have always known her by this endearing nickname. Barbara graduated from the University of California Los Angeles with a bachelor degree in elementary education in 1959 and embarked on her lifelong career in teaching with the Burbank Unified School District. Over 34 years, Barbara taught elementary age children at Emerson Elementary, Washington Elementary, and then extensively at Bret Hart Elementary School.

Barbara and Robert Gillies Marchant, originally from Hamilton, Ontario Canada, were married in Burbank on July 1, 1961. She gave birth to their daughter, Michelle Diane, in October of 1962 and son, Gregory Robert in February of 1966. After nearly 30 years of teaching, Bunny enrolled at Pepperdine University in California and received her masters in teaching in 1988. With the masters in hand, she began teaching night classes in English at Glendale Community College while continuing to instruct at Bret Hart Elementary School in Burbank. Barbara retired from her teaching career in Burbank in the spring of 1993 and relocated with Bob to Boise, Idaho. For Barbara, Idaho possessed and unexplored beauty that fueled her adventurous soul. She taught classes for the Academic Skills Department on the campus of Boise State University. In addition, Barbara briefly taught for the Sylvan Learning Center. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and served the Assistance League of Boise where she was board secretary. She donated her time to the Assistance League thrift store and as well as Operation School Bell. Barbara was a member of the Plantation Homeowners Board and supported the Arts by volunteering regularly as an usher at the Anne Morrison Performing Arts Center.

Friends and family fondly remember Bunny as a real go-getter. She loved being out in nature and expressed this love with downhill skiing and venturing out on many back packing excursions in her much loved Yosemite Nat. Park. Barbara rode her bicycle down the green belt in Boise and piloted small aircraft over the skys of Los Angeles. She was a self-taught historian who loved to read historical fiction and nonfiction alike.

She and her husband traveled together regularly to experience the beauty and depth of the world we live in, as well as visit the many friends and loved ones that were so very dear to her. Some of her fondest memories include sailing the great rivers of America and Europe.

Family was always a priority and most of her life's goals and dreams surrounded her need and desire to build and enrich these relationship ties.

Barbara is survived by her loving husband Robert, daughter Michelle and husband Todd Bledsoe, son Gregory and wife Maureen, and their six grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters Carolyn Jean Stillman with husband James and Dorothy Anne Williams. In her generation she was preceded in death by her much beloved brother in law, Jack Williams.

ELAINE SCHER was a wonderful lady. She had big green eyes, and a big beautiful smile with a trademark gap between her front teeth. One meets few people who are truly remarkable. Elaine was one of those people. She was born in Connecticut in 1937, the youngest of seven siblings. The family moved to Burbank when Elaine was five. She graduated from John Burroughs in 1955, attended college, and then took a position with Variety Magazine.

She married Marvin Kossin, whom she met a few years earlier in Palm Springs. Their first child, Andrew, arrived four years later. Next, I was born. Then, Marv and Elaine sold their home in Reseda and moved to Porter Ranch, in h Northridge. They owned Sands Drive In. When we were kids, Andy and I worked with our parents at Sands, which made it a real family restaurant."

Elaine was diagnosed with Lymphoma in 1987. But that didn't stop my mom, She continued to live as always, shopping, going to the beach, and spending time with her family. She never let the cancer bring her down. In 1995, my first daughter (Elaine's granddaughter) Shayna Hanna Levinson was born. My mom held my hand as I gave birth. Elaine loved children, and Shayna's birth was a substantial milestone in her life. Loving Children as she did, Elaine suffered perhaps the cruelest irony when a few short months after Shayna's birth, her cancer worsened. She spent her last days in the hospital surrounded by loving family members. I held her hand as she passed from this life.

When Elaine's second granddaughter was born, we named her Eden after my mother. Eden has a beautiful gap between her front teeth and when she smiles, we see Elaine's tradmark smile. My father passed away this February. Although he missed my mother terribly these past few years, they are together now, dancing.

Richard (Dick) Earl Tichenor was born Nov. 26, 1936 in Los Angeles, CA. He lived in Bellflower, CA, 'til he was 11 when he, his mother and little sister, Susan (me), moved to Burbank. From the time he was about 13 he had a newspaper route for the Examiner paper. He continued to deliver for them and the L.A. Times 'til he was out of high school. His route expanded so much he needed to use his '32 Ford to deliver his papers in the hills of Burbank. In the 11th grade he and Terry Ward joined the Naval Reserve and during the summer break they went to Boot Camp in San Diego. After Gradating he worked for a time on a dam project in Fresno. In 1958 he went to work for Librascope and the following year married Jerrianne Brown, also a graduate from JBHS. He and Jeri have two children, Renee (Bill) and Darren (Michelle). He went back to school and earned a degree in Business Administration. Worked for a time for Lockheed, then started his own business in Mobile Home siding and roofing. He found his true calling when he became an Auctioneer and opened 'Dick Tichenor's Auctions.' He was very successful selling American Antiques and Collectibles. His business was located near San Diego where he and Jeri lived for 20 years.

Dick was an avid fisherman and backpacker and spent many days hiking the backwoods of California's Mountains and fishing the streams. Though he often went with friends, many times he went alone. He said it renewed his spirit to be alone with nature.

We lost my brother to brain cancer in September, 1999. Family and friends miss him more than I can say, but I will always remember his unique sense of humor, our 'feuds over politics, religion and whatever else we could find to argue about, and the 'Brain Teasers' he always hit me with. He was and always will be, 'My Big Brother'.

Best wishes to the class of '55, from Dick's 'Little Sister', Class of '63.

Susan Powers

Dick was one of my best friends. He was the best man at my wedding and I was best man at the wedding of he and Jerriann. - Terry Ward

My son was born in Detroit Mich. When he was 5 yrs. old we moved to California. We enjoyed the weather and nice atomsophere of Burbank. Chuck began school and when the summer holidays came, we always went to the High Sierras to spend time fishing and camping.

Our family had always been in the building business and Chuck learned the trade and really enjoyed it. Later they closed the business. Then Chuck was in the Service for two years. When he returned he was thankful to be back in the USA. He married and had two sons. Later they were divorced. Life goes on.

Later we were all interested in antiques. Chuck studied about antiques and it later became his vocation. His last shop was in La Crescenta and was an enjoyable place to visit. Later he went to swap meets and did very well. Chuck met his future wife, Vanessa in the business.
