HOWARD MAYRANT and PEGGY
My Biography

Peggy and I spent over an hour browsing around the web site and I really was swept back to the wonderful past of our high school days! We lived in the truly HAPPIEST DAYS teenagers ever had ... in the 50's!!

Just an update on me... I beat cancer on 2000! My entire family have died of cancers of different kinds... my mom of liver cancer in 1973, my brother of lung cancer in 1978 (chain smoker) , and my dad of colon cancer in 1980! Because I was a high risk for colon cancer, I began having colonoscopy every five years! They always found non-cancerous polyps each time, but in 2000 they found cancer.

It was still contained within the colon and had not spread, so I had an operation to remove 6" of my colon... and am now totally cancer-free! The moral of this story... is to tell all of my classmates ... that colon cancer is one of the preventable cancers... IF you get periodic colonoscopies! PLEASE do it... I want to see all of you at our 50th reunion!!

We have re-established an ongoing social relationship with Lorry and Sharon Smith. Lorry was my best friend from high school. I just signed up for my social security benefits this past week (just turned 65). I'm also celebrating my 50th year of continuous employment (except for six months in 2000). I'm still actively working... as the Training Manager at Argent Mortgage Company, in Orange. I still play racquetball three times a week and have for over 30 years! I think racquetball has contributed to my continued excellent health over the years! Besides working full time ... I also do part-time consulting during my free time! At 65... I've never been so active in my entire life! You can checkout my training website that I've recently developed at http://www.howardmayrant.com/.

Looking forward to seeing all of you in 2005!
