My Biography | |
Burroughs has always had special meaning in my life. My mothers maiden name was Burroughs, my grandfather was the schools custodian for 25 years, and I lived across the street from the school. My wife, Wendy (jbhs w'57) and I have been married since 1960, we have two sons and six grandchildren. We are both retired from careers as teachers. We have lived in Whittier, CA for 40 years. |
After graduation I spent two years at Glendale College, a year at Sacramento State, eventually earning a masters degree in physical educaton form Cal State LA. The first three years of my teaching career were spent in Montebello. In 1963 I started what proved to be a 34 year tenure at Pioneer High in Whittier. I taugh history, government, and economics along with coaching football and track. I served as social studies department chairperson for 22 years. The school improvement program I coordinated received national recognition in 1983, I also did curriculum writing and staff development training for the school district. |
