ANDREA FRIEDMAN CANADY
and DICK
Hi, Everyone,

Since graduation in 1955, I haven't strayed far from Burbank, at least career-wise. I attended UCLA right after JBHS and began teaching at Jefferson in Burbank. I married Jim Adams in 1959 shortly before I graduated from UCLA. Unfortunately, he passed away in 1963, a week before Kennedy was assassinated. I got in touch with Dick Canady, who was recently divorced, and we got married in 1965. In 1967, our daughter Allison was born. I took three years off from teaching when she was born, but went back to teach at Roosevelt for two years in 1970. I then became a resource teacher. I got my Master's Degree and Administrative Credential in 1973 and became the principal of Providencia and Monterey elementary schools, a dual assignment. I was then principal at Emerson from 1977 until 1986 when I went to the District Office where I remain today. I am currently the Director of Elementary Education.

My daughter is a teacher in Burbank at the Miller Kindergarten School. Miller got so big they had to move the kindergarten to a separate site. Allison is married and has two children, Robert, who just turned five and will start kindergarten in Burbank this fall and Ashleigh, who will be a year old< i August. Allison and her husband live in Simi Valley, and since, I'm in Chatsworth, I get to see them often. They are both gorgeous children.

I've got well over 40 years working for the BUSD, and I'm finally thinking of retirement at the end of the next school year. It's pretty scary to think of not getting up and going to work everyday. My outside interests are reading and shopping; reading I can do everyday; shopping I don't think I can afford to d everyday. I'd love to travel, since the only trip I've taken out of the U.S. is to the British Isles in 1985, buy traveling nowadays is pretty scary. If anyone has any advice, I'd love to hear it. My e-mail address is acanady@socal.rr.com.
