JANINE DAY BORROR
My Biography

Anybody who remembers us at JBHS would know we were pretty crazy about each other as Seniors in HS, we went on to college at Biola (now University) and were married after our 3rd year there. Next summer we'll celebrate our 43rd anniversary with great gratitude for the years God has entrusted to us so far. We have three adult children, one daughter and two sons. Sherilyn is director of alumni relations at George Fox University in Newberg, OR; Gregg is Senior Pastor at Mt. Park Church in Lake Oswego, Or. and Kenton is music-pastor at Cascade Park Baptist Church in Vancouver, WA. Each of our three kids have three kids, so we have 9 grandchildren ranging in age from 19 to 3 years. After college Gordon taught public school music for 17 years in Hacienda Hts. CA, while Janine gave private voice lessons and taught in various elementary and Jr. High programs while the kids were small. In 1977 we moved to Portland Oregon where Gordon began teaching at Western Seminary graduate school in Church music I and related fields.

Janine then began a career as college voice faculty at Geo. Fox University as well as Warner Pacific College in Portland from "77-'97. In 1992 Gordon was honored by Biola University in La Mirada, CA with the Honorary Doctorate in Literature for various contributions in the musictworship field. In '98 Gordon accepted the Sr. Pastorate at First Baptist Church in Milwaukie, OR where we had directed music the previous 20 years. We had been convinced this is where we'd finish our careers, but the call came from Ft. Worth TX at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary where Gordon had lectured on two previous occasions to come in January of 2001 to join the faculty in the Church Music school. This is the largest Seminary in the world, and an opportunity we just couldn't refuse-so here we are getting settled in a new Professorship in a new state just when we probably should be retiring! We still have our home in Gladstone, ORegon, but now reside in Ft. Worth at 1800 W. Broadus Street, 76115. We are grateful for the effort being made to re-connect with friends of the mid-50's when we still had so much to learn-hopefully we've all made some strides forward!
