ELLA CRAWFORD TRAVERS and DON
My Biography

I have been putting off writing this for some time now. High school was so... long ago. Although I thoroughly enjoyed those years and the memories are still with me it seems like a lifetime ago.

I was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 15, 1937. I was the youngest of three girls. We moved to California in 1940. I went to Roosevelt Elementary School, Luther Burbank Junior High School and then Burroughs. After high school I attended U.C. Santa Barbara, for three years, got married and finished my Bachelor's Degree in Los Angeles. I had a short teaching career in Glendale prior to having my family. I lived in New York for two years in the early sixties and returned to California in 1964 and bought a home in Northridge. In 1970 I returned to college and completed my Master's Degree, graduating with honors. In 1975 we moved to northern California and settled in Paradise. We lived in Paradise for twenty-five years and in late 1999 we moved to Durham in the farm country near Chico.

My husband, Don, is an attorney and I have managed his office in Paradise since 1975. He specializes in Estate Planning. We still work full time.

I have three sons, Scot, Glenn and John. Scot lives in Mexico City with his wife and two children. He is CEO for WalMart Mexico. Glenn lives outside of Redding in Palo Cedro with his wife and three children. He is an architect and a financial planner. John lives in Paradise with his wife and three children. He is an attorney. So.... we have eight grandchildren who range in age from three to thirteen years.

I enjoy swimming, hiking and horseback riding. We have horses and have recently bought Peruvian Pasos. We will raise one foal and see how we do at training a young one.

I guess my true love is designing houses and furniture. I have designed two of our homes and am in the process of renovating our present one. In addition, I have a small project yet to build in Mt. Shasta.

Our work schedule limits any long vacations but we do spend time at our places in Oregon and Vale de Bravo, Mexico. We love Mexico and try to get there at least twice a year to visit our family, the colonial cities and our home away from home.
