***************
I'm trying to think of where to start so
that it will make sense to others, so I'll start with the connection as I
recall. I met (officially) the Bristol's when I married Johnny Yarbrough
(Burroughs Class '54). Johnny's family and the Bristol's were friends. We
visited them quite often, and went places together. Lee and Bonnie were
wonderful! They treated me like one of the family, even though I was the
"new kid."
I don't remember what Lee's work was. I remember being told that Bonnie was
an R. N. and had been the personal nurse to Mrs. Henry Kaiser (nee
Permanente). Johnny was a grocery clerk having started at the first
Gelson's Market (Hollywood Way and Victory Blvd.) as a box boy. He was in
Retail Clerks 770, and our health plan was through Kaiser-Permanente, so we
thought that was pretty cool (the connection with the Bristol's)! It seems
to me that Bonnie either worked around that time maybe part-time (late
1950's) at Donna's Florist up on Glenoaks and Angelino. Dick was still
living at home, and I think attended Hollywood Presbyterian Church, where he
seemed to be pretty involved. Johnny and I were married 5-5-57 at Little
White Chapel on Jeffries and Avon, and it seems to me that that's where Lee
and Bonnie attended.
Bob was already "out on his own," and my memory recalls that he worked for
Purina. We saw him once in awhile. I think he and Johnny had been close
friends growing up, but Bob was single, and after Johnny and I were married
couples were around us more than singles. I have a faint memory about Bob
being exceptionally bright with healthy pet food formulas for Purina, but
I'm not absolutely sure. I remember Lee and Bonnie were VERY proud of their
two sons!
My hope is that the above will add a little "something" about a young, very
handsome, nice man named Bob Bristol!
God bless!!! Love, ♥
Pat. (Walmisley, Burroughs Class W'56)
P. S. Johnny Yarbough passed away from
lung cancer (smoking) in 1992. We had 3 children together: Kim, John III
and Kelly, who are all grown and have families and grandchildren. I have 12
grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren
