DINA BOWERS DIXON
My Biography

I was born in Phoenix, Arizona on .... seared you, didn't I? Seriously, the year after graduation I married Bob Richardson, a '52 JBHS graduate. We were married for 19 years, had 3 children and a happy home life in the Valley and Saugus until he died of heart disease.

After my children were born I started Valley College part time and graduated suma cum laude from CSUN eight years later. I went to work for Arthur Andersen, a CPA firm, and passed the CPA exam with honors the next year. Haven't done anything worth bragging about since.

In 1976 I married George Dixon, a leader in the Los Angeles printing industry. He raised horses and wore western attire when I met him, a definite attraction, but sold all the horses before we were married. We are both into physical fitness and have run, then walked, and worked out at gyms until this day.

George and I have enjoyed many successive hobbies, a few concurrently, but most abandoned in favor of the next one. We have skied, flown airplanes, sailed various types of boats from a yacht down to a small electric boat (in that order - the wrong order), hiked, ridden bikes, gardened, remodeled various houses (not a hobby - a passion) and made our own wine.

As a result of a rear end collision which temporarily interfered with the mindset an accountant must have, I gave up my practice in 1986 and earned a certificate in Interior Design at the University of Santa Barbara.

I still like to hike. In '94 1 climbed Mt. Whitney and in '97 hiked down into the Grand Canyon. Right now I am training to WALK the Portland Marathon in 2001 with my daughter. I also like to do crossword puzzles, play Hearts on the computer, take photographs, and am studying Spanish again, trying to relearn all that has been forgotten since college.

George and I have moved every 3-4 years, always to a new type of environment. We've lived in a few places in the Valley, at Channel Islands Harbor, Mammoth Lakes, Cool (Hwy 49 in the foothills near Sacramento) and now are in Olympia, Washington where it is blessedly cool and green. We love it.
