PATT BLALOCK HARRINGTON and BRIAN

My Biography

Well, here it is 2005 and we've been out of H.S. for 50 yrs. ! Fifty years---OMG seems like only yesterday.......well, not exactly !

After 12 years of school, 13 if kindergarten counts.....I'd had enough so college wasn't even thinkable and since I had a car to support I went to work.

Ten months later I married and after two years, had a son, followed by a daughter two years after that. The baby girl was 3 mos pre-mature, so I became a stay-at-home mom. (in those days most families could afford that luxury). Being an only child myself, raising two was quite a challenge.......to them and to me ! !

With a 4 & 2 yr old, we made the big move from The Valley to Huntington Beach, where the kids grew up, married and ultimately gave us 5 grand-kids.

In the meantime, we shared our lives, for 15 years, with foster kids,.... mostly newborns......about 100, if memory serves me ! Those years and their adventures would fill a book. During that time, the college bug bit me - I still think it had something to do with helping kids do homework ! Anyway, umpteen years after high school....you don't do it very fast going at night.....I got a degree......yipeeeee !

When the youngest got in high school it was time to get out of the foster bit and give work a try....again. After a few years I got a dog and that ended up being another milestone in my life. We'd always had dogs, but they were pets for the kids......... this was different....the kids were gone most of the time and this little girl-dog was all mine.....a very loving, stubborn terrier. I got hooked on dog training and have been at it ever since. The terriers I have now have gotten me addicted to dog sports - namely, agility. I'm sure this activity, for the last 10 years, and my three terriers - 2 Jumpin' Jacks (Russells) and 1 wonderful Westie - are responsible for my good health and activity level.

So, here it is 50 years past JBHS....married 49 years (to the same guy)... still in the same house........borrrring --- yep - sometimes......and when that happens Brian, the dogs and I jump into our 38' motor home and take off and don't come back 'til we're darned good and ready !

Our favorite trips are spending the winter in Vegas and surrounding area and summer into fall, we love the Oregon/Washington coast. We've done these two trips for several years and have made countless friendships among the people we've met at various RV parks, many who do the same travels we do and we meet up with them year after year (I've even trained some of their dogs !) God willing......see you all at the reunion Oct'05
