Immediately after graduation from JBHS I was employed for two years by a local manufacturing
company and spent a term at Glendale Community College until I received an offer from the US
military that I could not refuse. I enlisted in the Air Force and spent three of my four year obligation
in Germany. A truly great experience. I spent a vast amount of time traveling around Europe and
thoroughly enjoyed the people and the countries.
I returned to civilian life and married Sandra: a beautiful, charming and intelligent lady. I worked for
the next six years for financial institutions including Security Pacific National Bank as an Assistant
Branch Manager and Loan Officer. We started a family and reassessed our goals in life. One goal
was to acquire additional education. In the 60's we pack two toddlers and our bags and move to
Eugene, Oregon to attend the University of Oregon.
I was employed by the City of Eugene, and Sandra started attending classes. We balanced work,
family, school and life in general like a moving football. Sandra completed her undergraduate and
Ph.D. degrees in education first. I lagged behind (as usual) but, managed an undergraduate,
master's and Ph.D. in Education. We embarked on teaching careers, I at Kent State University
(Ohio) and then at Southwest Texas State University and Sandra at the Mental Health Departments
in both Ohio and Texas.

We moved to Las Vegas and I officially retired in 1994: good-bye tension, hello pension. I
recovered from retirement immediately and went to work for major hotel/casino to keep my hands
and mind busy. And, frankly, I am having a great time.
Currently, Sandra is a Literacy Specialist for the Clark County School District and looking forward
to retiring in 2006 +/-. During these years our daughter earned an undergraduate degree from Kent
State and a graduate degree from Southwest Texas State, married and is an Athletic Program
Director at University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Our son earned undergraduate and graduate
degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and a Juris Doctorate from the University of Akron,
married, two children, and he and his wife are practicing law in Akron Ohio. When the children and
grandchildren visit it is the high light of our year, and they totally wear us out. However, I would not
have missed these life experiences for the world.
